Tôn Đức Thắng was the second and final president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the first president of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. He is friendly called “Uncle Tôn”. To memorize Uncle Tôn and his sarifices for Viet Nam and show the proud of An Giang inhabitants, Chairman Ton Duc Thang Memorial Site was established in 1988.

Chairman Ton Duc Thang Memorial Site was recognised as the Special National Site by the Prime Misnister of Socialist Republic of Viet Nam in 2012. The area is 6.7 hectors, with many original structures such as: Uncle Ton’s Temple contructed on a 1.600-square-meter plot, The memorial house of Chairman Ton Duc Thang, the gallery exhibiting photos, reliefs, and other objects  that reflect Uncle Ton’s life and career.
